The KVYSO, established in 2000, is an adjunct ensemble of the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra that provides training in orchestral performance to more than 50 accomplished young musicians. The organization provides demanding training in performance and musicianship in an instructional environment. The program is not intended to compete with training received in the student’s school or provide studios, but to enhance that training.

The orchestra will perform Sunday Novermber 22 and Sunday April 18, 2010, at 3 p.m. in Olivet Nazarene University's Larsen Fine Arts Center in Bourbonnais.

The KVYSO also has a music academy, which provides instruction to children ages 7 - 16. The sessions run eight weeks, and include a weekly 30-minute lesson with one of the academy's highly trained instructors. Music academy students are responsible for providing their own instruments. Lessons are held in the Larsen Fine Arts Center at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais. There are limited funds available for tuition aid, based on financial need. Sessions are: Aug. 24-October 16; October 27-December 18; January 11-March 5, 2010; March 22-May 14, 2010.
