Riverside Awards: An Impressive Body of Work
For two years in a row, Riverside Medical Center has been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® by Thomson Healthcare, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare. This award recognizes excellence in clinical outcomes, patient safety, financial performance and efficiency.
Riverside Medical Center has also received several top five-star ratings from HealthGrades®. These five-star ratings were seen in coronary bypass surgery, treatment of heart failure, total knee replacement, back and neck surgery (with spinal fusion and without), carotid surgery, prostatectomy and cholectystectomy. Additionally, Riverside has received numerous HealthGrades® Specialty Excellence Awards™ in Cardiac Care, Cardiac Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Spine Surgery and Gastrointestinal Surgery, for being in the top 10 percent in the nation in these categories.
Riverside was awarded Chest Pain Center accreditation with PCI (percutaneous cardiac intervention) from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. To earn accreditation, facilities must meet or exceed a wide set of stringent criteria and then allow an on-site evaluation by a review team from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. The added distinction of PCI is included due to Riverside’s interventional capabilities.
About Riverside Medical Center
Established in 1964, Riverside HealthCare serves the south suburban counties of Chicago as a not-for-profit medical facility. Riverside currently has three medical campuses in Kankakee, Bourbonnais and Coal City and operates nine community Health Centers in Kankakee, Grundy and Will counties.
Riverside is nationally recognized for its specialty programs in heart care, obstetrics, trauma, oncology, rehabilitation, geriatrics, occupational health, treatment of alcohol and chemical dependency and psychiatric services. For its heart and oncology programs, Riverside partners with Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
Located on the Kankakee Campus is Riverside Medical Center, a 336-bed hospital that provides a full scope of inpatient and outpatient care. The Emergency Department is designated as a Level II Trauma Center and a Resource Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Kankakee is also home to Riverside’s senior living community featuring active independent living, assisted living, 24-hour skilled nursing care and Alzheimer’s care.
Riverside HealthCare Bourbonnais Campus features the Betty Burch Bridgewater Center for Radiation Therapy, an imaging center, Women’s Diagnostic Center, outpatient surgery center, medically-based wellness center and physician offices.
