The River Valley Metro bus  system serves riders in Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais, Aroma Park, Manteno and University Park. Last year the system provided more than 500,000 rides.

Hours: Monday-Friday 5 a.m.-10:30 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m.-10:30 p.m.; Sunday and all holidays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Route 3 — Northfield Square mall

Route 4 — Eastgate

Route 5 — Aroma Park

Route 6 — Kankakee Community College

Route 7 — West Kankakee

Route 8 — Medical Center

Route 9 — Manteno

Routes 10 anf 11 — Bourbonnais

Regular fare is $1. Exact change required

Riders under 6 are free. Schoolchildren with a summer pass ride free from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

A monthly pass, available at the Metro Office (Metro center is on St. George Road, just west of the intersection with Route 50) is $30 for adults; $20 for students, ID required; $15 for person with disabilities ID required.

Persons 65 and older can ride the reuglar buses for free, ID required.

University Park Bus

The Metro service provides a bus that links with the Metra train University Park Station.

The University Park line fare is $2 Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and $3 Mondays-Fridays.

Riders can park their cars free, even overnight at the Metro Center lot on St. George Road. Full schedule at (815) 937-4Bus or at www.rivervalleymetro.com.

On weekdays, the first bus leaves the Northfield Square mall stop at 5:45 a.m. and the last bus out leaves the Metro Center at 6:40 p.m. The last bus back from the Unviersity Park train station leaves the station at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturdays, the first bus leaves the Metro center at 7:30 a.m. and the last bus leaves the center at 7:30 p.m.  The last Saturday bus back from University Park leaves the train station at 8:10 p.m.

On Sundays and holidays, the first bus leaves the Metro Center at 8:40 a.m. and the last bus leaves the center at 2:45 p.m. The last bus back from the train station leaves the station at 3:45 p.m.
